Unilateral state sanctions refer to measures that a country independently imposes against another country and its purpose is to restrict economic, political or cultural interactions. These sanctions can be applied in economic, commercial, financial or even military terms. This research examines the legitimacy of unilateral sanctions from the perspective of international law. According to the principles of international law, unilateral sanctions should be applied mainly based on the decisions of international institutions such as the United Nations Security Council. However, in practice, various countries ignore international law by using these sanctions independently and based on their national interests, which creates legal and political challenges. Unilateral sanctions, especially against specific countries such as Iran, which has been subject to extensive economic and commercial sanctions, have become one of the controversial issues in the field of international law. This study also examines strategies for dealing with these sanctions using a resilience economy approach. This approach includes strengthening domestic production, diversifying economic resources, developing ties with non-sanctioned countries, and creating sustainable economic capacities to reduce the negative effects of sanctions and achieve economic independence.
