Fundamental developments in financial technologies and the increasing use of digital currencies have led to changes in traditional methods of economic transactions and, in addition to legitimate functions, have created new grounds for committing financial and economic crimes. In the meantime, the crime of bribery, as one of the clearest examples of crimes against administrative integrity, has faced emerging challenges; especially since existing criminal laws have based the definition of this crime mainly on traditional means of payment and have not provided clear clarifications regarding new financial instruments, including digital currencies. Features such as decentralization, relative anonymity of users, high speed, and difficulty in tracking transactions raise the fundamental question of whether the payment or receipt of digital currency can be considered an example of property subject to the crime of bribery and how the elements of this crime can be established in such a context. This research, by adopting a descriptive-analytical method and utilizing the analysis of legal texts and studies related to the legal nature of digital currencies, has examined the possibility of realizing the crime of bribery in the context of this new tool. In this regard, the concept of property in law has been reinterpreted and the possibility of its conceptual development in line with technological developments has been analyzed. Also, the legal, material and moral elements of the crime of bribery have been explained with regard to the specific characteristics of digital currencies, and the legal and evidentiary challenges arising from the lack of legal clarification and the technical complexities of these tools have been examined.
